LAHORE - Following two weeks of dillydallying, the Punjab government eventually succumbed to the Establishment Division’s pressure on Thursday as it relieved 10 senior officers of their duties for their new postings in other provinces under the rotation policy evolved by the federal government.
In its letter of November 9, 2021, written to the Punjab government, the Establishment Division had called back 10 senior officers of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), serving in Punjab for the last 10 years. The Punjab government resisted the move for over two weeks, trying to convince the federal government about indispensability of the officers.
The Punjab chief secretary also wrote a letter to the secretary establishment, seeking more time for relieving of the officers, but the federal government stuck to its stance and refused to oblige the Punjab government. In response to the chief secretary’s letter, the federal secretary replied that the officers of PAS and PSP who had spent 10 years or above in Punjab were to be transferred to other provinces under the rotation policy. He also warned of strict action against the officers for non-compliance of the orders.
