PESHAWAR - Majority of the people belonging to different walks of life backed the statement of Federal Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour regarding the head money on the US filmmaker, however some people termed it a bid for political point scoring to gain political support.
Talking to TheNation, senior lawyer and member of Jamaat-e-Islami Arshad Saeed, advocate, said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were proud of Haji Ghulam Bilour on his statement, as he did not care for his office and portfolio and expressed his voice bravely to condemn the filmmaker and announced head money. He said this was a daring step on the part of the minister. “We hope that he would not care for the stance of his party leaders on this important issue.”
Another lawyer and leader of People’s Lawyer Forum, Letafat Khan, advocate, welcomed the statement of Haji Ghulam Bilour and said that this was the true representation of not only the Pakhtuns but he also represented the entire Muslim Ummah. He said that apart form statements people should also follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) who was the true messenger of Allah, almighty.
A local journalist told this scribe that though he was principally opposing the policies of Awami National Party, yet he was strongly backing the statement of Ghulam Ahmad Bilour. He condemned what he called the irresponsible statement of Bushra Gohar declaring the statement of Ghulam Bilour as criminal one.
He added that Bushra Gohar was a junior party member to Bilour but she did not consider the seniority of the later. He said that Bushra Gohar had no concern with religion and she was following the agenda of Non-Governmental Organisations.
He further said that it was the responsibility of the religious political parties to announce the bounty, but the so-called religious political parties have not taken any practical step but they damaged the public property during their protest demonstration.
Wasim Khattak, a lecturer in Sarhad University, remarked that Ghulam Ahmad Bilour was the only politician in the federal cabinet who did not care for his portfolios and party position. He opined that this was the responsibility of the Prime Minister to issue such kind of statement.
Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Arshad Javed Gorwara said that the statement of the Ghulam Bilour was against the party discipline but in his personnel capacity the statement is appreciable.
Senior Journalist Kamran Khan condemned the reaction of political parties upon the statement regarding the head money of western fundamentalist and said that such kind of statement was the responsibility of the religious political parties saying that if western film maker have the right of freedom of expression, the Muslims deserve the same right to express their views as expressed by the Ghulam Ahmad Bilour.
Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour while talking to media persons said that the views of Ghulam Bilour were his personal and government does agrees with his personal views. 
However he said that the filmmaker has really hurt the sentiment of the Muslims and deserved for execution.
