LAHORE     -   Punjab Chief Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has met with a German company delegation in which the delegation expressed their interest to install environment-friendly waste-to-energy power plant projects in Punjab. 

The CM directed for early set­tlement of the matters to install waste-to-energy power plant projects. He added that Punjab will get cheap electricity from the green field power plant and for implementation on the said project a formal MOU will be signed with the German com­pany. Parvez directed the con­cerned officials to give a final shape to the salient features of the project at the earliest add­ing that all the concerned de­partments should expeditiously settle their affairs for signing the MoU. He assured that trans­parent work will be done with regard to this project at every level. He emphasised that instal­lation of an environment-friend­ly power plant is the need of time in the perspective of climate change and will enable us to cope up with smog and environ­ment pollution. He revealed that investment amounting to billions of rupees will be done in Punjab and will create employment op­portunities. He highlighted that it would also facilitate getting rid of the problem of discarding waste and asserted that no delay should be made in doing paper work on the project. The delega­tion while talking with the CM Pervaiz Elahi intended to install a plant to produce electricity from a garbage bin in Lahore and revealed to make an investment of billions of rupees in the plant installation project which will generate employment opportuni­ties for 5,000 people. The delega­tion comprised German company office-bearer Carsten and includ­ed others. Member Punjab As­sembly Sajid Khan Bhatti, Tanvir Shah, M Jabbar, Mushtaq Gondal, M Asif, M Hasan, Secretary Local Government, Secretary Energy, Additional Secretary Industries, Special Secretaries CM Office were also present on the oc­casion. The German company has installed green field power plants in six different countries of the world.


Punjab Chief Minister Chaud­hary Parvaiz Elahi on Sunday that said that he had evolved an effective mechanism to monitor the timely completion of all in­dustrial and development proj­ects to usher an era of progress and prosperity across the prov­ince for the welfare of all seg­ments of the society. Talking to a delegation led by Chief Execu­tive Officer Pakistan Furniture Council and ChenOne Mian Ka­shif Ashfaq, he said Punjab gov­ernment attached great impor­tance to execution of industrial and development projects and performance of all provincial secretaries has now been linked to development projects. Chaud­hary Muhammad Ashfaq,former Zila Nazim Toba Tek Singh and PMA Saeed Ahmad Saeedi we’re also present on the occasion. The chief minister said he was himself supervising the month­ly performance of projects di­rectly from the chief minister secretariat to ensure achieving targets well on time and no any type of excuse will be tolerated at all. He assured the members of the delegation that irrigation water problems of all farmers throughout the province in­cluding that of Toba Tek Singh will be solved on top priority as agriculture is main stay of our national economy. Parvez said that Punjab government was fully committed to gear up de­velopment activities in Toba Tek Singh and will allocate sufficient required funds for health, edu­cation, roads and communica­tion and irrigation systems.
