ISLAMABAD   -   A court of law on Sunday remanded journalist and politician Ayaz Ameer to the Islamabad police for one day in the case of murder of his daughter-in-law Sarah Inam.

The police had already apprehended accused Shahnawaz Ameer, the son of Ayaz Ameer, and obtained his two-day physical remand. The investigators of Islamabad police will produce the suspected killer before a court today for extension of his physical remand.

According to details, a team of investigators of Homicide Investigation Unit of Police Station Shehzad Town produced Ayaz Ameer before the court of Civil Judge Islamabad-East Syed Muhammad Zahid Termizi and the investigation officer (IO) Sub Inspector (SI) Habib Ur Rehman pleaded that the police arrested the accused after the real uncle of deceased Sarah Inam had nominated him in the case. He sought five-day physical remand of Ayaz Ameer for investigation.

Ayaz Ameer argued before the judge that he was the one who had alerted the police about the murder.

Zafran Awan, the counsel for Ayaz Ameer, said that his client was not named in the murder case and the investigators have found no evidence against him.

However, the IO requested the court for a five-day physical remand of the accused arguing that the accused Ayaz Ameer should be investigated.

“A Canadian born Pakistani woman Sarah Inam was murdered and it was a high profile case,” he said adding that the police wanted to know motive or conspiracy behind the murder.

After completing arguments of both the parties, Civil Judge Islamabad-East Syed Muhammad Zahid Termizi granted one-day physical remand of the accused to police investigators. When Ayaz Ameer was escorting back to police mobile van after appearance in court, he told journalists that he was not guilty rather the one who had informed the police of the murder.

It may be noted that police held Ayaz Ameer’s son Shahnawaz Ameer on charges of murdering his 37-year-old wife Sarah Inam by hitting gym-dumbbell on her head after having a brawl with her at his farmhouse located in Chak Shezad area on September 23, 2022. After killing his wife, the accused dumped body in bathroom tub. Meanwhile, sources disclosed that father of the deceased Sarah Inam would be coming from Canada today in the federal capital to pursue the murder case of his deceased daughter.
