Renowned scholar Rubina Saigol passes away

Renowned Pakistani scholar, feminist, and human rights activist Rubina Saigol has passed away in Lahore on Friday.

Taking to Twitter WAF wrote, “With profound grief and sorrow, WAF Lahore regrets to inform that our beloved Rubina Saigol has passed away.”

Upon learning about Saigol's demise, condolences started pouring in on social media platforms from journalists, educationists, politicians, and human rights activists.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) wrote that it "mourns the passing of veteran women's rights activist RubinaSaigol."

Dr. Rubina Saigol was a feminist scholar, who authored numerous books and papers in both English and Urdu.

Her scholarly work appeared in various national and international research journals, covering diverse themes from feminism, to educational discourse to nationalism and counter-terrorism.

Dr. Rubina Saigol was also a senior member of WAF and on the advisory board of Simrogh, a nonprofit organization centered around women's rights.
