Fazl mocks women protection bill saying 'we should just call husband wife now'

QUETTA: While addressing to a procession on Friday, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam F (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman criticized the members of the Punjab Assembly upon the recently passed Women Protection Bill.

While taunting the members of the Punjab Assembly, Fazl-ur-Rehman stated that there was no as such need to introduce a new bill, a simple amendment to address the wife as the husband and the husband as the wife would have done the trick.

The JUI-F leader stated that during the Musharraf tenure, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) opposed a similar bill but now they themselves have become ardent followers of the Western culture. He further added that the rulers have sworn not to make any laws in accordance with the Quran and the Sunnah.
