“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife.”

–Kahlil Gibran

The harmonium was created 230 years ago in the West but it is now associated to the East, particularly the sub-continent to such an extent that people believe it to be an Indian instrument. The first prototype was designed by Christian Gottlieb Kratzenstein who was a professor of psychology at the University of Copenhagen, with a deep passion for music. His creation was quite unique and when he was not conducting psychology experiments, he was playing around with the Sheng, a Chinese instrument that inspired the creation of the Harmonium.
