LAHORE - All-round Kainat Hafeez steered Higher Education Commission (HEC) Women to seven-wicket victory over Saif Sports Saga Women in 4th Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Women Cricket Challenge Trophy first match played here at the at the Bagh-e-Jinnah Ground on Tuesday.
Put into bat first, Saif Sports Saga Women could score 94-9 in 20 overs. Ayesha Kiran made unbeaten 20 while Javeria Rauf added 19, Sana Taj 12 and Ramin Shamim 11. Noreena Khalil clinched 3-17, Kainat Hafeez 2-15 and Saba Nazir 1-10. In reply, HEC Women achieved the target for the loss of three wickets in 19.2 overs. Kaynat Hafeez was top scorer with 35 runs hitting five fours while Namra Imran contributed unbeaten 27 and Marium Shafiq unbeaten 12. Bakhtawar Iqbal took 2-15 and Ramin Shamim 1-13. Irfan Dilshad and Saleema Imtiaz officiated the match as umpires while Sohail Idrees was match referee and Azhar Hussain official scorer.
In the second match of the day at the same venue, Iram Javed batted State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Women to 14-run triumph over Omer Associates Women. SBP, batting first, posted 104-8 on the board in 20 overs. Iram Javed scored 32-ball 41 with the help of five fours while Sidra Amin contributed 35 and Elizebath Khan unbeaten 12. Asmavia Iqbal clinched 3-17 and Sana Gulzar 3-28. In reply, Omer Associates could score 90-8 in 20 overs. Fazila Akhlaq made 28 and Asmavia Iqbal 27. Elizebath Khan claimed 2-11 and Natalia Pervaiz 1-14. Javed Ashraf and Nuzhat Sultana were umpires while Kamran Chaudhry was match referee and Azhar Hussain official scorer.
