RAWALPINDI - The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Tuesday detained two persons at entry gate of New Islamabad International Airport after confiscating arms and ammunition from their car, informed sources.
The suspects were later landed over to local police for interrogation. The accused have been identified as Hamza Iftikhar and Shafqat Ali, hail from Mandi Bahauddin, they said.
According to details, ASF staff was busy in routine checking of vehicles entering the airport when they spotted arms and ammunition in a car at 7am during course of search.
The ASF staff immediately caught the two car riders namely Hamza Iftikhar and Shafqat Ali, sources said.
ASF staff seized one SMG riffle, one gun, five magazines, 57 bullets, six cartridges and leather holsters from the possession of the duo.
The riders of the vehicle were handed over to the police, along with the car. Further investigation was on, they said.
A police officer said they were being grilled as why they were entering the airport along with weapons. He said the duo could not produce the license of weapons they were carrying.
