Islamabad - Chairman, Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL), Dr Muhammad Qasim Bhogio Sunday said that the government had decided to dedicate the year 2015 to “Pak-China Friendship.”
Pakistan Academy of Letters, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and National Heritage would hold a two-day international literary conference on “Thematic Similarities between Pakistani and Chinese Literature” and an All Pakistan Mushaira on July 28 and 29.
The chairman in a press statement said that eight writers from China would participate in the conference and present their papers.
Prominent Pakistani writers would also take part in the conference and Mushaira. They include Hafeez, Dr Fatima Hasan, Dr Shaheen Mufti, Umar Qazi, Dr Waheed Ahmad, Dr Sughra Sadaf, Dr Syyed Qasim Raza Siddiqui Peerzada, Dr Shahid Iqbal Kamran, Mushtaf Soofi, Dr Nasir Abbas Nayyer, M. Hameed Shahid, and others. The Chinese poets would also recite their poems.
On the first day, the head of the Chinese writers’ delegation Shuo Koi Shiang and PAL Director General Zahida Parveen would make speeches. A colorful cultural variety programme would follow the inaugural session.
On the second day, literary sessions would be held in which Pakistani and Chinese scholars would present their papers on similarities in the themes and styles between the literatures of the both friendly countries.
Famous novelist Intizaar Hussain would preside the first session while the second session would be chaired by prominent poet and scholar Dr Syyed Qasim Raza Siddiqui Peerzada. All Pakistan Mushaira would follow the concluding session which would be presided over by the famous poet Zafar Iqbal.
