ISLAMABAD Model Customs Collectorate, marked the International Drugs Day on Saturday by setting ablaze a massive quantity of illicit drugs at a place near Karal along the Islamabad Highway. According to the statement issued by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Narcotics seized by Model Customs Collectorate and Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation were put to fire during the ceremony chaired by Member Customs, FBR, Munir Qureshi and attended by senior Customs officials. The drugs torched included 3564 kilograms of charas, 57 kilograms of heroin, 90 kilograms of opium, 200 kilograms of hashish besides a large quantity of contraband cigarettes and other items. In his address, Member Customs, Munir Qureshi highlighted the importance of the day and the role played by the Customs in curbing illicit drug trafficking.
