While Nawaz Sharif has said that given this term he will change the fate of the country, Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri are plotting to pull the carpet from under him. The Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid claimed that the opposition was moving towards striking a grand alliance against the Nawaz Sharif government, which might include the PTI and PAT. And though this alliance sounds intimidating, it begs the question; do these three parties even have a party agenda or any ideology that they want to stick to? Or is all politics in Pakistan just about personalities seeking their own advancement though whatever means available?
To take the air out of this news bite, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said that the PTI and PAT are in a strategic relationship with the Taliban. Just as the Taliban are attacking Pakistani security, Imran Khan is attacking Pakistani democracy. Such statements lump every one together and try to create a monolithic enemy. In a nutshell, everyone is accusing each other of cheap shots. It seems there is no subtlety in Pakistani politics and there is no respect for position, government or the constituent citizens who have voted these clowns into power.
As for Imran Khan, not just the KPK assembly and critics, but his own followers are flabbergasted by his irresponsible statement regarding dissolution of the KPK assembly if past election rigging is not investigated. Do his voters in KPK not warrant a thought? Imran Khan seems to constantly be looking for ways that will get him up the ladder of power, rather than taking stock of the success he has and working towards the best of what he can do for his constituents.
Though PML-N has been very childish in its management of the Qadri situation and has fumbled through the problem of militancy, Khan and Qadri need to calm down and prove to Pakistan that they can work within the system to improve it. Qadri asking for military escorts and Khan wanting parliaments dissolved is just not acceptable behavior by party leaders.
