The Ministry of Water and Power has raised objections to the Rs20 billion project of Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) regarding the establishment of five new grid stations in Gujranwala Region. The Ministry has sent back the project file after raising objections, advising the senior Gepco officials to resend the project to this Ministry after providing complete details about the project on the new data-Performa provided to Gepco by the Ministry of Water and Power in this regard.
According to details, the Gepco had chalked out a plan for the establishment of five new grid stations in Gujranwala Region with a total cost of Rs20 billion for bringing betterment in the electricity transmission and supply system and reducing the loadshedding. The Gepco also planned to ensure advanced and better services to its valued customers. The project was also aimed at developing capacity-building of dozens of electrical feeders and establishment more transmission lines as well.
Gepco had sent this project to Ministry of Water and Power for final approval, but the Ministry has sent the project back to the Gepco after raising several objections, seeking more details of projects on new data-Performa, in this regard.
RS10M GOODS SEIZED
The Customs Intelligence Anti-Smuggling Squad Sialkot has seized a big quantity of smuggled clothes, LEDs, crockery, toys, welding rods and other valuables, worth of Rs10 million from a passenger bus and three other vehicles, during a special checking on GT Road.
On special directives of Collector Customs Sialkot Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhry, the Customs Intelligence Anti-Smuggling Squad conducted a special search operation under the supervision of Deputy Collector Anti-Smuggling Sialkot Asdaq Afzal and seized the above-mentioned valuables. The valuables were smuggled from Afghanistan, Iran, China and India and were being brought to local markets in Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat and Lahore for sale.
E&T CRACKDOWN CONTINUES
The Excise and Taxation Department continued crackdown against its defaulters in Gujranwala Region and 28 special teams of the department sealed 55 private warehouses, 200 properties and impounded 63 different vehicles for non-payment of property taxes and token taxes.
According to senior E&T officials, these sealed private warehouses and properties are located at Gujranwala city’s congested GT Road, Sethi Plaza, Sheikhupura Road, Khiyaali Shahpur and Bypass Road localities.
As many as 28 E&T teams set up special pickets in Gujranwala city’s all important Chowks and thoroughfares and impounded 63 different vehicles for non-payment of token taxes.
