Hundreds of workers of Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and members of civil society staged protests and took out separate rallies against prolonged power outages and deaths of more than thousand people due to heat-wave in Karachi here at District Courts and in front of Press Club DG Khan on Friday.
The PPP District leadership on the directives of central leadership took out the rally while the Awami Tehreek district leadership took out a protest really from Traffic Chowk to Press Club DG Khan. Speaking on the occasion, PPP District General Secretary Behram Khan Buzdar regretted that the government always made tall claims of “all well” but hundreds of people had died in Sindh due to the negligence and apathy of the rulers, adding that the PML-N government had lied to the masses regarding elimination of loadshedding within six months during its election campaign.Pakistan Awami Tehreek South Punjab General Secretary Saif Ullah Sadozi said that tall claims of “Sharif Brothers” had failed, adding that the poor governance had aggravated power outages, Sui gas and petroleum shortage across the country.
In Sindh, scores of people were killed during the current heat-wave but the government has failed to pay attention to mitigate the sufferings of the masses.
The protestors chanted slogans against State Minister Abid Sher Ali and Water and Power and Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif. They said that both ministers were responsible for the death of thousands of people, asking them to step down immediately by accepting their failure to protect the poor people of country. PPP DG Khan District President Mirza Shaharyar Talpur, Senior leader Manzoor Khan Lund, Chairman People’s Workers Ittehad Mukhtar Sarwar, Malik Saleem, Zahid Mustafa Khosa, Ishaq Brohi, Zulfiqar Manzoor Lund, Muhammad Bilal Bohar, Syed Tahir shah, Khalil Ahmed Bermani, Ghulam Farid Joti, Muhammad Iqbal Bhutta, Musarrat Ali Dasti and Awais Khan attended the rally and addressed the protestors Pakistan Awami Tehreek leaders including Dr Saad Baloch, Riaz Ahmed Aalyani, Sajjad Hussain, Rab Nawaz Bokhari, Malik Riaz Ahmed, Ghulam Farid Mirani, Qari Rehmat Ullah and Zafar Iqbal took part in the protes.
