LAHORE - With a view to reap the maximum benefits of the European Union market access to Pakistan by enhancing value-added textile export, the Punjab Board of Investment & Trade, in collaboration with Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association, Tuesday announced to organise an International Textile & Clothing Conference (ITC) Pakistan 2013 on December 9 in Lahore. The conference will be addressed by prominent speakers from across the world and Pakistan.
While addressing a press conference, PRGMEA’s former central chairman Sajid Saleem Minhas, who was accompanied by PBIT DG Dr Ali Naveed Pirzada and CEO Matrix Sourcing Azfar Hassan, informed that the ITC would be a unique initiative for promoting and empowering textile and clothing sector of Pakistan. It aims at establishing universally recognized performance benchmarks in the Pakistani textile sector as well as providing a networking forum for various stakeholders in the industry. He said that ITC 2013 will provide a unique opportunity to investors, suppliers and students to benefit from the expertise of the best minds in the industry.
Director General (Project, Policy & Research), PBIT Dr Ali Naveed Pirzada, CEO, Matrix Sourcing and Azfar Hassan said that the theme for ITC 2013 is “Pakistan’s Industry – Integrated & Collaborating for Today & Tomorrow.” The keynote speakers for the conference consist of national and international leaders from the textile sector, including Per Gasseholm, President, Global Apparel Brands, Inc, Amit Gugnani, Senior Vice President, Technopak Advisors Pvt. Ltd., India and Mian Mansha, Chairman Nishat Group. They said that the conference will be divided into three chapters, General Business Environment, Innovation and Manufacturing Excellence. Each chapter will consist of several independent sessions with the keynote speakers, designed to gain maximum output for the avid attendees.
Explaining about the core goals of the conference, PRGMEA north zone senior vice chairman Jawwad Ch told The Nation that important and relevant issues of the industry would be discussed and keynote speakers, and experts, will be available for one on one sessions and discussions.
Jawwad Ch said that the conference will see a convergence of buyers, sellers, service providers, suppliers of materials and equipment, government organizations, policy makers and the media. The conference will also host representatives of significant importers as well representatives of local and international bodies such as Pakistan Trade Mission Tokyo and National Chambers, Textile Ministry and Trade Associations.
