Asaan Mobile Accounts (AMA) reaches 1m accounts

ISLAMABAD - Focusing on financial inclusion objectives and working closely with SBP, PTA, telecom operators, VRG being the first PSO/PSP jointly licenced company of Pakistan has cemented its position of providing many-to-many financial services platform. Revolutionising the destinies of tens of millions of Pakistanis, almost 80 percent of the adult population without bank accounts, it creates a vast change in their lives.

Speaking at VRG headquarter during the celebrations getting to the 1 million connections, with 11 million transactions worth over Rs6.2 billion turnover, Salman Ali, COO – VRG, said: “Reaching this milestone is offering financial services to masses and facilitating the poor by bring the digital payments into their lives.” Asaan Mobile Account (AMA) scheme will play a vital role in Pakistan for financial inclusion by allowing any person with a feature or smart mobile phone to open a digital transaction account swiftly through a USSD code “2262” from anywhere at anytime. The landmark of 1M+ Asaan Mobile Account has been achieved without any marketing; it’s just via a word of mouth which shows the acceptability and ease of use. The commercial launch is pending subject to a court case decision. The court decision usually takes in 90 days, nearly 250+ days has already passed, since the judgment reserved which one understands is due to a huge backlog of cases. The expectation is that in the greater public interest effecting the lives of tens of millions of poor people, the Hon’ble Court will give a decision soon. VRG expects that by the end of the year there will be 5 million AMA accounts and by March 31, 2022 at least 10 million more.
