BUREWALA    -   Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Monday arrested a police inspector red-handed for taking bribe from a complainant for investigation of a case regis­tered at City police station Bure­wala on Monday.

According to ACE sources, a citizen registered a complaint with ACE Vehari circle against Inspector Tahir Khan of City po­lice station regarding demand of bribe for investigation of a case. 

The Circle Incharge ACE Ve­hari Shahid Nazir Warraich raid­ed the city police station and arrested Inspector Tahir Khan red-handed for taking bribe.

The ACE sources said that the marked bribe money was recov­ered from the possession of the police inspector. A case has been registered against the inspector and further investigations were underway from him, ACE sourc­es added.

Meanwhile, Faisalabad Police claimed to have arrested 51 criminals and recovered drugs and illegal weapons from their possession in the district during the last 24 hours.

According to police, raiding teams nabbed two proclaimed offenders and 19 drug pushers and recovered 1.7-kg hashish, 1.3-kg opium and 261 litres of liquor from their possession. Police also held 10 gamblers and recovered stake money of Rs31,380 from them. In a crack­down against illegal weapons, the police arrested 20 persons and recovered 20 pistols and a number of bullets from them.


A man committed suicide over domestic issues in the jurisdic­tion of Mitha Tiwana police sta­tion, Sargodha on Monday. Po­lice said the victim M Shahzad (29) of Jabbi Sharif village con­sumed poisonous pills over domestic issues. Police handed the body over to the family and started investigation.

Meanwhile, a teenager boy was electrocuted while catching a stray kite in the area of Sad­dar police station, Faisalabad. Rescue 1122 on Monday said that 14-year-old Shaban Arshad, resident of Panjtan Town, Jaran­wala Road, tried to catch a stray kite entangled with electricity wires near Central Jail when he received fatal electric shock. The body was handed over to the heirs after completing neces­sary formalities, he added.


Two armed people on Mon­day robbed an educationist of Rs one million in Muzaffargarh. According to police sources, the owner of City Academy and known educationist M Lateef was on his way after drawing Rs one million from a bank. The armed men intercepted his car and snatched the amount from him at gunpoint.


Khanewal police on Monday arrested two accused belonging to a gang of motorcycle snatch­ers/lifters and recovered eight motorcycles from their posses­sion, said DPO Jalil Imran Khan Ghilzai.

In a statement, the DPO said that those arrested included Zahid alias Zahidi, the ring leader of the gang and Waseem Machi. They were arrested in an operation carried out by a team of young but hard work­ing police officials deputed by police station Sarai Sadhu SHO. The accused have confessed their involvement in around a dozen cases. DPO commended SHO Sarai Sadhu and police team that tracked down the criminals.
