The spokesperson for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday condemned the allegations levelled by a politician and rejected them categorically.

“Such irresponsible allegations are baseless and based on lies,” he said.

“The decision to hold elections is not within the jurisdiction of the election commission,” he added.

“Elections will be held only when the assemblies complete their term or the prime minister dissolves the assembly. At present there is no such situation,” he stated.

“The election commission will continue making decisions according to the Constitution without taking into account any pressure,” he vowed.
