Hand grenade defused in Peshawar

PESHAWAR:  A terror bid was averted after Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) Saturday defused a Russian-made hand grenade at Mufti Mehmood Flyover, in the middle of the provincial metropolis. However, no arrest was made, police said.

According to details, local people spotted a hand-grenade allegedly hurled at the Mufti Mehmood Flyover by unknown terrorists, and called the police to defuse it.

Receiving information, police along with BDS rushed to the site, cordoned off the area and flyover for all sorts of traffic so that to avoid any untoward incident, as the flyover is situated close to KP Assembly, Peshawar High Court and other important buildings.

Police said that the BDS defused Russian-made hand grenade and averted a disaster. Meanwhile police launched a search operation, however, no arrest was made in this regard.

Following Quetta incident, security has been tightened in and around the city by deploying extra police force and increased their patrolling in city.
