ISLAMABAD - Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) Chaudhry Bashir Ahmed has challaned 235 public service vehicles and recovered fine worth Rs 89,560 for various traffic violations in the current month. Secretary ITA Bashir Ahmed sad that he was conducting traffic checking on different routes to ensure completion of routes by the public service vehicles and redressing the complaints of commuters on the spot. He described that during January he had conducted raids in Karachi Company, Aabpara and PIMS Hospital area and challaned 235 public service vehicles for various traffic violations, including non completion of routes by the vehicles and recovered fine amounting Rs 89,560/- from offenders. "Over 40 vehicles were issued final warning to ensure compliance of traffic rules," he added. He has directed the transporters including those plying vehicles on route no 101,121,120,24,127 to ensure completion of routes and charge the fixed fare from commuters failing which their route permits will be suspended.
