LAHORE (PPI) - Tevta has trained as many as 2,164 male and female teachers during financial year 2009-10 through its different Teachers Training Programme. The basic aim to organise such training programmes is to enhance the professional expertise of the teachers in service. Provision of latest training techniques will upgrade their teaching skills and it would be reflected in the skills of the trainees. Teachers training would also be imparted to 2,240 male and female teachers to improve their teaching skills and management during current financial year. Chairman Tevta Saeed Ahmad Alvi said this while addressing the participants at certificate distribution ceremony of teachers of DAE Mechanical and Architecture technologies at Govt. College of Technology, Railway Road, Lahore. He said that training of teachers of GCT Railway Road is a part of five years TEVTA-JICA project. Rs 580 million grant by JICA would be utilised for procurement of equipment/machinery, construction of building, establishment of CAD/CAM room of teacher training. The contents of curriculum of DAE Mechanical and Architecture technologies have also been revised with the consultation of JICA. The expertise of UET, Punjab University, NCA and selected group of industrialists has also been incorporated to update the curricula according to the need of market and employers. Alvi said that two months special training programme would also be imparted to all new teachers prior to starting their teaching assignment in the classroom. At present, 175 newly inducted male and female teachers are attending teachers training at seven places across the province of the Punjab so that they may get training before starting of the academic session in September 2010, he added.
