Tribesmen urge govt to stop US drone hits in NWA

PESHAWAR - The tribal elders of Waziristan Agency have urged the government to foil the ‘international conspiracy’ against peaceful tribesmen and play its due role in stopping the US drone attacks in North Waziristan Agency.
“Thousands of innocent tribesmen including women and children were killed by the US drone strikes,” said Malik Marjan Khan, a tribal elder, while addressing a news conference here at press club on Tuesday. He criticised the elected representative from the area Kamran Khan and termed him equally responsible for the killing of tribesmen in drone attacks.
Flanked by Malik Shah Jehan, Malik Fazal Janan, Malik Nora Jan and other tribal elders, Marjan alleged that the elected MNA Mr Kamran did nothing for the people of North Waziristan agency, rather exploited them at several fronts.  He alleged that the government has issued millions of rupees for the development of the area but all it remained upto paper work.
Besides the allocation of huge funds, he said, the representatives exploited the locals in the government jobs, national allowance, financial aid through Benazir Income Support programe, jobs in Levies force, and financial aid from NGOs.
The tribal elders also asked the chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to initiate an inquiry against their MNA Kamran Khan, and assured that they are ready to provide enough evidences to the inquiry committee.
