Country to increase mango
export this year: Bosan
MULTAN (APP): Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Bosan on Sunday said export of mangoes would be enhanced remarkably this year. Speaking at the "Kissan Mela" at Fort Qasim Stadium here, he said the country exported over 120 ton mangoes to Japan and Korea last year. The prices of mangoes were higher in these countries as compared to others, he said and added more mangoes would be exported to these countries. He urged farmers to improve quality of mangoes and its proper handling so that its export could be improved further. About wheat, the minister said the government would purchase wheat till last golden grain.
The purchase of wheat would start from April 20 as all possible arrangements had been completed, he added.
About Kinnow export, Bosan said the country exported over 20 lakh ton which was higher than the set target.
He said immense focus was being given on the agriculture sector and the government was taking practical steps to provide maximum relief to farmers.

Tevta prepares various projects

Lahore (PR): Various Projects being prepared by youth enrolled in technical and vocational institutes will be displayed in two days National Skills Show 2016.  TEVTA and NAVTTC are organizing the National Skills Show at Expo Center Johar Town, being started from tomorrow (Tuesday).  Large number of enrolled youth and stake holders of renowned organizations is participating in this skills show.  It was stated by Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while briefing about National Skills Show 2016 here yesterday at TEVTA Secretariat.  Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, Hamid Ghani Anjum, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Uzma Nadia, Maqsood Ahmed, Sarfraz Anwar and other officer were also present on this occasion.
Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that students have prepared their projects for display with keen interest.  National Skills Show will highlight the skilled training being provided in technical and vocational training Institutes across the province of the Punjab.  Stalls of various national and multi organizations will also be placed in the skills show. It will also offer an opportunity to business community, general public and especially youth to witness the multi projects of students under one roof. 

Tetra Pak launches highest
capacity homogenizer
Lahore (PR): Tetra Pak has announces that the world’s largest capacity food processing homogenizer has gone into operation with its first customer. Wapda contributes 31.88b hydel units to national grid in 2015
ISLAMABAD (APP): The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) hydel power stations delivered some 31.88 billion units of low-cost hydel electricity to the National Grid in 2015 registering 0.66 per cent increase. Official sources told APP here that 208.75 million more hydel units were generated as compared to last year 2014. They said as many as 2.95 billion units were delivered to the national grid system during the first two months of the current year (January and February 2016) registering increase of 8.78 per cent units. This increased generation has been achieved due to better hydrological condition, and efficient operation and maintenance of hydel power stations, they said.
It is worth mentioning that WAPDA delivers more than 31 billion units of hydel electricity to the National Grid every year on the average. Hydel is the cheapest, cleanest and environment-friendly source of electricity generation, which plays a pivotal role to stabilise electricity tariff in the country.
It is pertinent to mention that hydel power generation capacity of WAPDA stands at about 6902 MW - about one third of the total installed capacity in the country.
It is a matter of great satisfaction that despite some of WAPDA hydel power stations being as old as 50 years, their generation capacity has stayed intact due to their proper maintenance and efficient operation by WAPDA.

Farmers uplift top priority of government: Governor
MULTAN (APP): Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana on Sunday said uplift of the agriculture sector could help strengthen the country's economy. He was addressing "Kissan Mela" organized at Qasim Fort Stadium here on Sunday. Malik Rafique said farmers played a vital role in improving economy of any country and our agriculture sector was the backbone of the country's finance. He said the government's kissan package surely helped farmers and assured farmers of working for minimizing sales tax on agriculture inputs and improving cotton quality. The government had also provided thousands of cows and buffaloes to poor farmers to make them stand on permanent footing, he said.
Big companies had been invited to set up storage houses of agriculture commodities so that role of middle men could be abolished and farmers could get handsome return of their produce, he said.
The governor said circumstances in the country were different from other countries and problems faced by the country had also affected the agriculture sector.
