Dacoits shoot woman, daughter-in-law in road robbery

LAHORE  -  A 55-year-old woman died, and her sister-in-law sustained injuries, in firing by robbers in the precincts of the Millat Park police station here on Saturday. According to police, Misbah Manzoor, 55, was on her way in Sharif Park near Yateem Khana Chowk when two robbers, riding a motorcycle, snatched cell phones and other valuables from them at gunpoint. They also fired shots at them for resisting the robbery bid, leaving Misbah dead on the spot and her sister-in-law with critical injuries. Police reached the spot. They took the dead body into custody and shifted the injured woman to hospital. They also registered a case against the accused and launched investigation. On the other hand, two persons died and another was injured in a traffic accident occurred in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) here. According to the traffic police, the accident took place in the DHA’s Phase VI. A speeding car hit the footpath and overturned, leaving two persons dead and another injured. “The injured and bodies of the deceased have been shifted to a nearby hospital,” the police said. The deceased were identified as 24-year-old Faisal and 25-year-old Ali Ahmad. The injured, Amir, is under treatment in General Hospital, Lahore.
