Land grabber booked


RAWALPINDI - Following the instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher, police registered case on Saturday against a land grabber who blocked a public street in Mohalla Qazian, Chakra, by building a room. However, police could not arrest the land grabber so far, stirring up a wave of unrest among the victim inhabitants of the street. According to details, a citizen Maj (Retd) Muhammad Dedar, on behalf of her sister-in-law, lodged a complaint with Police Station Westridge, stating that a man namely Arshad Mehmood son of Karam Elahi had occupied on the street at Mohala Qazian in Chakra by constructing a room right in the middle blocking the movement of others. He added that Arshad whipped out weapons and hurled threats of dire consequences, when his (complainant) brother Farooq, sister-in-law and other neighbours tried to stop Arshad from blocking the public street.
He appealed police to register a case against the accused and provided the area residents with security.
Earlier, the residents of Mohala Qazian, Chakra staged several protest demonstrations against blocking of their street, besides filing applications with Police Chowky Naseerabad, but unfortunately police did nothing.
Later, the area residents approached CPO Azhar Hameed Khokher, who taking strict action, ordered DSP Cannt Circle Malik Shehbaz to look into the matter.
ASI Ameer Hussain, who is handling the case, when contacted, said that police was struggling hard to arrest the land grabber. He said that soon the street would also be freed from the clutches of the grabber.
