Bail pleas of victim’s in-laws rejected

Islamabad - The Islamabad High Court yesterday turned down bail applications of a mother and her daughter who allegedly tampered photos of one of their female relatives by turning them into nudes and shared those pictures on Whatsapp application of mobile phone to malign the woman.

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq rejected bail pleas as allegations were levelled against Shazia Begum and Maria Naz that they tampered images of Nazneen Sajjad, the wife of a son of Shazia Begum, by using a computer software. Then, they put face of Nazneen Sajjad over nude bodies and shared them on Whatsapp.

Later, Nazneen Sajjad registered a complaint against the two with federal investigation agency (FIA) cybercrime circle on January 5, 2016 and both accused were arrested afterwards. The case is under trial at the court of an additional sessions judge (ASJ) of Islamabad. On April 7, 2016 an ASJ Muhammad Adnan had dismissed bail applications of both the accused mother and her daughter.

Thereafter, the accused filed an appeal against ASJ orders before IHC that was also dismissed here on Thursday.

In another matter, Chief Justice IHC Justice Mohammad Anwar Khan Kasi dismissed bail application of an Islamabad police official ASI Ameer Sajjad who allegedly murdered a man in police custody.

The counsel for ASI contended before the court that there is no substantive evidence to prove the role of his client in the alleged murder of the deceased Muhammad Irfan.

Complainant against his client had another option of filing application before the SSP that he did not, the counsel further said.

Saiful Islam Sandhu Advocate while representing the complainant adopted before the court that police booked Muhammad Irfan from Attock on August 26, 2015. It is mentioned in the records of Busal police station of Attock that the Irfan was brought and kept there. But it is not mentioned in the records that police took him to Islamabad.

Advocate Sandhu alleged that the police officials Ameer Sajjad and Abdul Hafeez kidnapped Irfan and demanded ransom against his release. While Irfan was in their custody, they brutally tortured him to death.

He continued that police did not attach Call data record with chalan to save their fellow.

After hearing arguments from both the sides, the IHC single bench dismissed the bail application.
