Rawalpindi- The residents of Rawalpindi are facing worst electricity loadshedding and water shortage in various areas of the district even during Sehar and Iftar timings.
The residents of areas such as Saddar, Murree Road, Dhoke Kala Khan, Double Road, Shakrial, Dhoke Ali Akbar, Muslim Town, Chah Sultan, Rawal Road, Commercial Market, IJP Road, Pirwadhai, Peshawar Road, Misrial Road, Chakra, Shalley Valley, Dhoke Syedan, Bakra Mandi, Dhamial Road, Chungi Number 22, Tench Bhatta, Dheri Hassanabad, Tulsa Chowk, Khatana, Sherzaman Colony, Dhoke Niaz, Mumtaz Market, Dhoke Lal Shah, Ali Town, Mubarak Lane, Chungi Number 20, Dhama Morr, Munawar Colony, Hill View Lane, Morgah, Jarahi, Kehkashan Colony, Sanjoli Estate, Rehman Markaz, Landco, Gulshanabad, Kalyal, Shahpur, Dehgal, Gorakhpur, Dhamial, Hayyal, Bank Colony and Chakri are complaining of six to eight hours of power outages. In other areas of the district, the loadshedding hours have increased from eight to 12 hours.
“We are suffering severe power outage even during Sehri and Iftar timings,” said Faisal Shah, a resident of Dheri Hassanabad, while talking to The Nation on Thursday. He said that living without electricity is impossible during harsh weather.
“Last night, WAPDA suspended electricity supply from 11pm to 3am,” said Asma Bibi, a housewife, residing in Ali Town.
Another resident of Murree Road lamented that they were facing seven to eight hours of loadshedding daily and power cuts were happening even during Sehri and Iftar. He said the power outage triggered a severe water shortage in the area.
He said the families in the area can’t sleep during the night because of loadshedding. “My three children have to take leave from school because of sleepless night,” he said.
Hamza Khan of Shahpur shared how they were facing at least eight hours of power cuts daily. “These are the last 10 days of Ramadan. People pray in their homes and inside mosques.
The IESCO should refrain from cutting power supply during hot weather,” he said.
The situation is much worse in areas of Rawat, Adiala Village, Jatta Hathyal, Tarahiya, Tapai, Chakbeli Khan, Gujar Khan, and Kallar Syedan and suburbs where the hours of loadshedding have reached as high as 10 hours a day.
Asif Khan of Jatta Hathyal said that life has become a misery due to power outages during Ramadan. “We can’t attend our office after spending sleepless nights due to loadshedding,” he said.
Many other villagers expressed their deep concerns over massive loadshedding and appealed to Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif to end the power outage immediately.
