There are very few nations in world who discriminate against their own citizens who chose to adopt singular nationality, refusing to pledge an oath of loyalty to another country and unwilling to abandon their motherland for better financial or welfare benefits offered by other countries. Does our ruling elite consider Pakistani citizens fit only to elect them and not suitable to hold public offices of importance which impact lives of those who have chosen to live and die in Pakistan, with no split loyalties or other vested interests? Are we really liberated or just working under a superficially changed East India Company?
In my opinion anybody who is born in Pakistan, irrespective of his/her faith or ethnicity, is son and daughter of this soil, irrespective of the origin of his parents or grandparents. How can state owned corporations like CAA, Steel Mills, PIA, PSO, OGDC etc. and key financial regulatory institutions like State Bank, National Bank, SECP, FBR etc. and even sensitive agencies like FIA, NAB, and the IB explain their preference for those holding dual nationalities, in presence of those who hold better qualifications, are more experienced and have no conflicts of interest, are more honest, but hold just Pakistani passport.
There needs to be a JIT to investigate method in this madness. Is it to facilitate massive flight of capital from Pakistan and to help corrupt bureaucracy and political elite to transfer billions through airports, seaports and border crossings. Name one governor of State Pakistan of Pakistan, or National Bank, or MD of PIA, or others holding key executive assignments in these organizations who have not been dual nationals. They ignoring more qualified, honest and experienced individuals who hold just Pakistani Passport and whose assets and families are located within this country. There must be some reason for this discrimination. Is it that these select and preferred dual nationals with a history of financial improprieties can safely escape to newly adopted countries and evade any attempt by dishonest politicians, or military dictators to investigate criminal financial terrorism?
