NEPRA notifies increase in power tariff by 39 pc

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Wednesday notified its decision to allow a 39 percent increase in the tariff of power companies on account of fuel adjustment charges.
The decision was announced in a statement from Islamabad after a ‘public hearing’ on different companies’ plea for the increase up to Rs0.39 for the month of August 2011.
NEPRA statement says the hike doesn’t apply on Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) tariff.
The increase under the head of fuel adjustment charges has been passed on to consumers who will pay it from the next month.
