Balochi officials want LWMC model in Quetta

LAHORE - The Balochistan government official delegation spent busy day with official meetings and field observations on first and second day of their scheduled visit to LWMC. The delegation had a meeting with Secretary Local Government Jawad Rafique in his office along with MD LWMC.
The objective was to discuss probabilities of replicating the Lahore Waste Management Company model in Quetta in order to introduce an effective and friendly solid waste management system.
The delegation called on LWMC Chairman Khawaja Ahmed Hassan and observed the company’s night operations of mechanical sweeping and washing in various areas of the city.
On the second day, MD LWMC gave them a detailed briefing and presentation on LWMC operations. They visited various departments of the company’s head office and had interactive sessions with operations, finance, procurement, HR and communication departments in the office. They were informed of the ongoing operations as well future projects of the company by high officials of LWMC.
The minister, secretary and administrator from Govt. of Balochistan also met CEO Urban Unit Dr Nasir Javed while visiting the Urban Unit office.
The minister and his delegation also saw Albayrak’s workshop where they were briefed on operational vehicles’ specifications and maintenance. GM Operation Khalid Majeed also acquainted them with the operational details of the workshops as a prominent feature in LWMC’s system.
The delegation also travelled by Metro Bus from Ittefaq Hospital to Secretariat to monitor the MBS as well as LWMC’s cleanliness systems on MBS. They observed cleanliness operations during their visit and expressed their desire to have similar systems implemented in Quetta sooner than later.
