LAHORE: Upper parts of the country remained in the grip of severe cold wave on Tuesday with experts predicting the prevailing conditions to persist during the next couple of days.

The intensity of cold and fog, however, decreased considerably, providing respite to the people from harsh conditions. Experts are seeing decrease in the intensity of cold wave with every passing day as no significant rain giving system is approaching the country in near future. 

Skardu remained coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 11 degree Celsius below the freezing point. Mercury dropped to -08 C in Astore, -07 C in Gupis, -05 C in Kalat and Hunza, -03 C in Gilgit, Parachinar and Kalam, - 02 C in Rawalakot and -01 C in Drosh.  Maximum and minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded 25 C and 09 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 28 per cent.  According to the experts, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. Local meteorological department has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for most parts of the country during the next couple of days.–Staff Reporter
