Foundation stone laid for oil terminal

LAHORE - The foundation stone was laid for the Machekey (Sheikhupura) oil terminal on Tuesday. The project is a joint venture of Overseas Oil Trading Company Pvt Ltd (OOTCL) and Bakri Trading Company Pvt Ltd (BTCPL), says a press release. The terminal will be built on 12 acres of land and will be operational within one year. This is Punjabs first and Pakistans second terminal (after Karachi), of its kind. The ground breaking ceremony was attended by MD OOTCL Javed Alam, MD BTCPL Feroz-ed-Din, Haroon Chandanna, Project Director Saba and several other officials. Talking to the media, MD OOTCL Javed Alam said that prior to this company is operating a 60,000 ton capacity terminal in Karachi. Machekey terminal will have a storage capacity of 10,500 liters (7,000 liters for Hi-speed diesel, 3,250 liters for HS-petrol, and 250 liters for Kerosene). He expressed ambitions of opening another terminal at 'Sahala after completion of Machekey terminal. According to him, the company had a dedicated supply line from Karachi to Mehmood Kot, now it has been extended to Machekey.
