KARACHI - On the call of Karachi Bar Association and Malir District Courts Bar Association, the lawyers observed complete boycott of the court proceedings on Thursday against the killing of their colleague. Junaid Rehman Advocate was shot dead near his house in FB Area on Wednesday. The 37-year-old Junaid was the resident of Block 17. Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court here on Thursday adjourned hearing of Sarfraz Shah killing case till Friday. The court did not proceed the hearing as the defence counsels submitted adjournment application, stating that the lawyers fraternity was observing black day and strike against the killing of their colleague, Junaid Rehman. The ATC 1 Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso, who is conducting trial in the case, granted the application and adjourned the hearing for the next day. Rangers Sub-Inspector Bahaur Rehman, Lance Naik Liaquat Ali, constables Mohammad Tariq, Minthar Ali, Shahid Zafar and Mohammad Afzal and a private contractor Afsar Khan are charged for killing Sarfraz Shah, 22, on June 8 in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park located in Clifton, Karachi. According to the prosecution, the deceased was killed in extrajudicial killing by personnel of paramilitary forces in a public park after he was handed over to them by private contractor Afsar Khan, accusing him of committing theft and looting. However, TV footage of Shahs killing showed that the Rangers personnel shot the unarmed Shah twice and after injuring him seriously they watched him bleed to death, instead of shifting him to hospital for medical treatment. The case has been registered against the accused by the Boat Basin police under sections 302, 34 and 36 of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
