LAHORE A 26-year-old man was killed by his rival party when he was on his way to Gujranwala in a van near Batti Chowk in Shafiqabad police precincts early on Thursday. Another passenger also suffered minor bullet injuries in the incident. The deceased was identified as Shoaib Akbar, son of Mohammad Akbar of Ratta Bajwa, a village located in Pasroor District. Police investigators said that Shoaib Akbar had allegedly developed illicit relations with the niece of accused killer Rafiq in Ratta Bajwa. When the family of the girl came to know about the matter, accused Rafiq killed his niece over her illicit relations some five months back and swore to kill Shoaib in the same fashion. Resultantly, Shoaib fled to the provincial capital to save his life and was taking shelter with his relatives in the City for the past few months. On Thursday early, the accused along with his accomplices, riding on bikes, intercepted a passenger van near Batti Chowk Bridge in which Shoaib was also traveling. Rafiq pumped five bullets at Shoaib resultantly he died on the spot while another passenger Asif, 40, was also injured as one fire hit his shoulder, police investigators said. Police reached the spot soon after the incident and removed the body to the City morgue for autopsy. SHO Shafiqabad has maintained that a case has been lodged against Rafiq and his five unidentified accomplices on the complaint of deceaseds father Mohammad Akbar. The accused Rafiq for killing his niece in which he was declared proclaimed offender in Pasroor. SHO said that Rafiq had declared that he will surrender to the police only after killing Shoaib, adding raids would be conducted to arrest the accused persons in their native areas. Later, the body was removed to the City morgue. TWO FOUND DEAD: A 30-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances from Q-Block of Johar Town area on Thursday. According to Edhi and Rescue-1122 officials, a man, yet to be identified, was lying dead along a roadside in Q-Block of Johar Town. Some passerby spotted the body and informed the concerned police. Police reached the spot and removed body to city morgue for autopsy. Police made several announcements in the local mosques but no one came forward to claim the body. Police officials said cause of death would be ascertained after autopsy report. Meanwhile, another man was found dead under mysterious circumstances from Defence Road in t Manawan police precincts on Thursday. The deceased, yet to be identified, was lying dead on Defence when some passerby spotted it and informed the concerned police. Police reached the spot and removed the body to city morgue. Investigation In-charge of Manawan police station said that the cause of death would be ascertained after autopsy report and legal action would be carried out accordingly. He said still no case was registered against any one. Fire broke out in a furniture shop of Malik Sheraz due to short circuit and gutted furniture, articles and valuables worth thousands of rupees. Rescue 1122 reached the spot and controlled fire after hectic efforts. No injury was reported at the incident.
