LAHORE Demanding the Punjab Government to regularize 1800 senior doctors, Medics Convention has warned that a sit in would be staged in front of the Chief Minister Secretariat if the notification was not issued within one week. Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore organized the convention at the PMA House on Thursday to press for the demand of regularization of doctors in teaching cadre. President PMA Lahore Dr Tanveer Anwer presided over the convention participated by medics from different districts. PMA Punjab President Dr Ashraf Nizami also attended the convention. Holding Secretary Regulations responsible for the delay in regularization of senior medics, the speakers urged the Punjab CM to intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest. The House also demanded regularization of doctors at PRSP. The speakers were of the view that bureaucracy was doing injustice to the community for the last so many years and inordinate delay in regularisation of senior medics was the latest wrongdoing. Terming the medics convention an attempt to pressurize the government for accommodating few doctors against merit, Grand Doctors Alliance has urged the Punjab CM to take notice of the efforts of putting undue pressure on the department. In a statement issued here on Thursday, GDA office bearers said that the so called group has committed contempt of court by holding convention. They alleged that the group was creating hurdles in the regularization of senior doctors and that was disturbing functioning of hospitals in the province. They urged the Punjab CM to ensure merit while regularizing senior doctors. 2 officers promoted to BS-20: The Punjab government on Thursday notified promotion of two officers to BS-20, while transferring and posting another two.
