Past in Perspective

“Google’s not a real company. It’s a house of cards.”
–Steve Ballmer

Google is perhaps the most widely used search engine across the globe. Now a multi-million dollar company, it was originally founded in a dorm room by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1995. They designed a search engine that used links to determine the importance of pages on the World Wide Web and this platform was named ‘Backrub’. Soo after, the name was changed to Google which represented the creators’ mission to organise the world’s information and make it universally accessible. As years passed, Google gained more traction from Silicon Valley as well. Andy Bechtolsheim, the co-founder of Sun, gave $100,000 to Larry and Sergey in 1998 which enabled them to establish Google Inc. officially. They created their offices and slowly, expanded into one of the top most influential companies in the world, alongside Apple, IBM and Microsoft.
