MULTAN - Mumtazabad police busted a notorious motorcycle lifter gang and arrested five accused besides recovering stolen bikes from their possession during a crackdown here Thursday.

Taking notice of the rising incident of motorcycle theft, the City Police Officer (CPO) Khurram Shahzad Haider formed a special team under the supervision of SP Cantt Division Hassan Afzal to arrest the criminals.

The police team busted the notorious Tariqi Gang and arrested five members of the gang including the ring leader Tariq alias Tariqi, Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Shakeel, Zohaib and Arshad.

Police have also recovered five stolen motorcycles and cash worth Rs 145,000 from their possession.

Police said, they found the accused to be involved in 13 cases, however, further investigations were underway and more recoveries were expected.

Briefing by NH&MP continue at motorway M4 toll plazas

The briefing officers have been deployed at all toll plazas of Motorway M4 to guide the commuters traveling on national highways due to rain.

The citizens were being briefed about road conditions, road slipperiness, keeping proper distance from following vehicles while driving and use of double indicators, on the directions of SP Javed Iqbal Chadhar.

He said that the citizens should follow traffic rules,  keep the speed low in case of slippery roads and ensure dim lights while traveling on motorways during rain.  He directed to get clear the water ways in case of rain to ensure smooth flow of traffic and comfortable travel to the citizens. The citizens were asked to dial National Highways and Motorway Police’s helpline 130 for any help while traveling.
