Factory worker crushed to death

A factory worker was crushed to death under a truck near Araiyan Pind in the Raiwind police precincts on early Monday.  Police identified the deceased as 18-year-old Fahad, a resident of Hujra Shah Muqeem. He was working at a local factory. The youth was trying to cross the Raiwind Road when a speedy truck ran over him. He died on the spot. The driver along with the truck managed to escape from the scene.  The police were investigating the incident. –Staff Reporter

Conference on paralysis today

Two day international conference on paralysis will start at Lahaore General Hospital on Wednesday (today).  Brief the media about the event Neuroradiology Angio Suit of LGH on Tuesday, Prof Umair Rasheed Chaudhary said that experts from Far East and other countries would deliver lectures and share their experiences of handling paralysis.  Flanked by Dr Farooq, Dr Shahzad Kareem and Dr Saima Ahmed, he said that the disease was on the rise and there was need to promote modern treatment methods.  Prof Umair Rasheed Chaudhary said that LGH has introduced innovations for treatment of victims of paralysis. He said that severe complications could be avoided provided the patient immediately approach the doctors on getting symptoms.  Prof Ossama Yassin Mansour from Egypt and Prof Anchalee Churojana from Thailand would be special guests in the conference.  –Staff Reporter

UMT seminar on Pak-Turkish ties

As part of the series of events to celebrate the 70 years of Pakistan-Turkey diplomatic relations, University of Management and Technology (UMT) hold a seminar under its newly established Pak-Turk Studies Center Tuesday.  Prof Mesut Ozcan, Chairman of Centre for Strategic Research, Director of Diplomacy Academy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Turkey, was the chief guest of the seminar while Khursheed Kasuri, former FM presided over the event.  Lt-Gen (r) Humayun Khan Bangash, Lt-Gen (r) Waheed Arshad, Shamshad Ahmad Khan, Dr Salman Shah, IA Rehman, Shafqat Mehmood, Rubina Tayab, Muhammad Haroon Shuakat were among the speakers while UMT Chairman Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector Dr Muhammad Aslam were also present. Mr Ozcan said Turkey is contributing to the development of Pakistan through a number of initiatives and projects undertaken by the Turkish companies in Pakistan.  The former FM said relations between Pakistan and Turkey span over years. College marks anniversary

The Government Islamia College Railway Road Lahore has  organised a poetry session in connection with its anniversary.  The session was presided over by Principal Prof Tahir Javed, while Chairman of International Multi Group Sheikh Amjad Rasheed was the chief guest.  Famous poet Dr Khursheed Ahmad Rizvi and Dr Saadat Saeed were guests of the honour in the event. A large number of students and teachers participated the event. On the occasion, Ghulam Hussain Sajid, Wajid Ameer, Nasir Basheer, Shahid Sheedai, Najma.Shaheen, Dr Shahida Dilawar  Shah, Muzaffar Hussain Baloch, Muhammad Zahid Awan, Ayub Nadeem, Shafique Ahmad Khan and Dr Tanveer Hussain presented their poetry.Later,Sheikh Amjad Rasheed distributed gold medals and motorbikes among the position holders of FA, FSc, BA and BSc. –Staff Reporter
