KHYBER AGENCY - A bid of smuggling of hashish from Afghanistan to Pakistan was foiled by the customs officials here in Torkham. 

The custom official told on Friday that last night the on-duty custom officials stopped a truck coming from Afghanistan bearing registration no Kabul-56925 for routine examination. During search 64 kg hashish, bundled in 54 packages concealed in numerous cavities of the vehicle was recovered.

The official maintained that the alleged drug pusher driver fled from the scene taking advantage of darkness. The officials took the contraband and the vehicle into legal custody.

It is to be mentioned here that the truck had been cleared by the Frontier Corps (FC) and Khasadar force personnel and had crossed numbers of check points at the border.
