Since 51 per ent of the total population of Pakistan comprises of women, therefore, the news that career counselling centres for female students will be set up in educational institutions is commendable as the move will help provide guidance to female students with regard to selecting the career of their interest. It is pertinent to mention here that for the establishment of these centres, Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) have been signed between Women Development Department and numerous educational institutions. Apart from this, a lot of measures have also been taken for the protection and promotion of women’s fundamental rights and the government is leaving no stone unturned for the economic empowerment of women. It is hoped that the government will continue their endeavours to promote women’s rights, because, by standing shoulder to shoulder with men, they can play a vital role in Pakistan’s national reconstruction and uplift.
