ISLAMABAD -  State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Friday said that the government was taking measures to ensure that markets and business centres were not locked down during any protest.

He stated this while talking to a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by its president Khalid Iqbal Malik, which called on him to discuss the new developing situation in the city and how to safeguard the business interests of local traders.

Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that it was the responsibility of the government to protect the rights of citizens including business community and was prepared to keep them unaffected by any untoward situation.

He said Mayor IMC and Chairman CDA had formed two committees to solve the problems of trade and industry and termed it a positive move that would facilitate the growth of business activities. He assured that he would play his role for addressing the key issues of business community.

Speaking at the occasion, Khalid Iqbal Malik, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that due to some recent developments, transporters were avoiding coming to Islamabad due to which supply of daily items to markets was facing problems.

He said containers were being taken into control due to which business activities would suffer and stressed that government should ensure uninterrupted supply of goods to markets and business centres to facilitate the consumers.

He said 95 percent issues of trade and industry were related to the CDA and being State Minister for Capital Administration, he should play role for urgent redress of business community problems. He also invited Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry to ICCI for an interaction with business community, which was accepted.
