WAZIRABAD/DERA GHAZI KHAN -  Hundreds of PTI lawyers and activists took to the streets against the arrest of their colleagues in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday.

In Wazirabad, the lawyers protested at Traffic Chowk and suspended traffic on the road. Dozens of lawyers protested against the police torture on PTI workers in Islamabad and choked Sialkot Road by burning tyres. Hundreds of vehicles blocked the Sialkot road and overhead bridge in Bank Square, under the auspices of Insaf Lawyers Forum.

A group of about 30 lawyers came on the road raising slogans against the government. They condemned the police attitude and torture on PTI workers including female political workers in Islamabad.  The protesting Lawyers remained on road for half an hour disturbing the life and routine work.

They blocked the road and burnt tyres on the road causing road blockade on busy Sailkot Road near Lahori Gate and raised slogans. Police remained around the protesters but did not interfere in their activities. After half an hour, the protesters dispersed peacefully chanting slogans against Nawaz Sharir.

Likewise, the PTI activists came from across the district, staged protest demonstration at Traffic Chowk in city and suspended traffic on the road.

The PTI workers reached there on motorbikes, cars and other vehicles to follow the announcement by the PTI chief for countrywide protests. During the protest, activists and supporters raised slogans against PML-N government and in favour of their leadership.

PTI DG Khan leaders Sardar Ahmad Ali Khan Dareshak, Akhwand Humayun Raza, Malik Mahboob Saqib and Dr Shaheena Najeeb Khosa said that the use of force by the PML-N government against peaceful and innocent women and youths had exposed its autocratic face.

However, the movement of accountability cannot be stopped, they said. PTI lawmaker Sardar Ahmad Ali Khan Dareshak said that instead of presenting himself for accountability, the prime minister has been telling lies with the nation for the last couple of months to conceal the corruption of his family.

Dareshak demanded immediate release of the party workers in Islamabad and Rawalpindi and also warned that delay in their release could lead to a severe reaction from the people across the country.
