PESHAWAR - Claiming that PML-N will also form next government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that the opposition has been panicked by government’s consistent journey of economic stability and development and that’s why it has sensed its political demise in 2018’s general election.
Speaking at a public gathering at Qilla Ground in district Kohat, the prime minister said that the country was about to become a developed state and the same is worrying the Opposition, knowing that its politics would meet its end if the government’s successful journey continues uninterrupted till 2018.
He maintained that Pakistan would soon become a prosper country as a result of development projects being implemented by the present government.
Nawaz Sharif arrived on a day-long visit to Kohat and also laid foundation stone of a gas provision project.
The prime minister said that 3.9 billion rupees would be spent on the gas supply projects in Kohat. Announcing different developmental projects for Kohat, he said that a highway would be constructed connecting Kohat, Jhand and Pindi Gheb.
Besides, he announced establishment of a state of the art Hospital in Kohat to provide best medical facilities to the people.
He informed that Prime Minister's National Health Programme would be launched in Kohat under which the poor segment of the society will get free-of-cost medical treatment.
Moreover, Nawaz Sharif also announced establishment of women camps of Kohat University as well as a railcar service would soon be started from Rawalpindi to Kohat on trial basis.
On this occasion, he said that Rs300 million would be given to district council and tehsil council Kohat. He was of the view that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would bring prosperity in the country, while reiterated that electricity loadshedding would be eliminated by 2018 as a result of different energy projects being implemented by his government.
About coming general elections, Nawaz Sharif confidently claimed that people had realised that his party had taken steps for their prosperity and that’s why N-League would come into power in the next general polls.
About the PTI government in KP, he said that the provincial government in KP has been claiming to ‘bring a change’ but it has never focused its energies on the uplift of the province. He claimed that in his view, there should be a change in KP and the PML-N would bring that real change which would be based on development.
“No government in the past ever considered on launching these development projects for the people of Kohat,” he said. Terrorist incidents had reduced to a large extent due to the sacrifices of armed forces, police, administration and the nation, he said, adding that efforts were in progress for the rehabilitation of displaced persons of the North Waziristan military operation.
Earlier, former federal minister for textile and PML-N leader from Kohat Abbas Khan Afridi in his welcoming address said KP strongly supported the development agenda of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and would reject politics of agitation in 2018 general election.
The opponents, he said, were scared of PML-N government's development agenda and knew that if development process continued with such a fast pace in the country their politics would be buried forever.
He said that the federal government was bringing real positive change in KP referring to huge development packages announced by the prime minister for different districts of KP and PML-N would form next government in the province on the basis of record development work.
Upon the arrival of the prime minister in Kohat, the PTI workers staged a protest and raised slogans against the federal government at Peshawar Chowk.
Moreover, it has also been reported that at one stage, workers of both the PTI and PLM-N clashed with each other. Police intervened and dispersed the protesters after baton-charging them.
