Student council advised to set example of discipline

Rwalpindi-The investiture ceremony of newly elected student council of FG Postgraduate College for Women, Kashmir Road, was held yesterday at college auditorium.

Director Education 10 Corps, Brig Ameer Muhammad Khan was the chief guest on this occasion while GSO-1 Rawalpindi Region, Lt Col Saddat Ullah also attended the ceremony. This ceremony started with the recitation of the Quranic verses by Muqaddas Shafi. Hira Shafiq presented Naat-e-Rasool (PBUH). College anthem was presented by Sajar Ali, Surraiya, Hannah and Misbah in chorus.

Speaking on this occasion the principal Mrs Rana Arshad Qazi highlighted the role of student council in character building through better coordination between the students and administration. She advised the newly selected council members to set an example of discipline and good behaviour by practicing virtues of tolerance, grace and humility. She also referred to a famous quote of Quaid-e-Azam: “Women have a most valuable part to play, as the prime architects of the character of the youth that constitutes the back bone of nation.”

Former President Student Council, Zoha Malik Sher in her speech said that her four years stay in this college groomed her into a disciplined citizen under the able guidance of teachers and the whole-hearted cooperation of student which enabled her to discharge her responsibilities in the most benefitting manner. Brig Ameer Muhammad Khan took oath from the newly elected council members and president of various societies and distributed badges among them.

Brig Ameer Muhammad Khan in his speech congratulated the newly elected members of student council on their selection and suggested them to develop a sense of discipline, hard work, honesty, tolerance, loyalty and firmness of purpose so as to gain the trust of their fellow students and administration.

Over Rs 80 million are being spent for establishing new block renovating old blocks, professional training of teachers and providing missing facilities in the federal government educational institutions (FGEI) institutions, he said. He said the FGEI is playing a vital role to meet challenges of the new era and providing modern education to the students. He advised the students to pay attention towards studies to achieve their goal in life. “It is your obligation to get education to serve the nation,” he added.

He said additional blocks are being constructed to provide opportunities to the students to get purposeful education. He said saplings would be planted to provide a clean environment to the students, adding that “One Tree and One Child” policy is being started in all institutions. He said, “We are taking solid steps for the betterment of employees and their issues would be resolved on priority.”
