LAHORE - A US university certificate course for journalists was organised at the Lahore Press Club.
A total of 10 journalists participated in online “Basic Reporting and Writing Certificate”. The US-based 4thPillar arranged the course.
The body is working for promotion of ethical journalism in Pakistan and capacity building of Pakistani journalists through international media trainings.
The course is designed and written by Poynter University, US. After passing the assessment, the journalists will receive a certificate from the Poynter University. The aim of this course is to produce certified journalists who can contribute positively to journalism in Pakistan. A similar course for KP journalists was organized at Peshawar Press Club on Oct 24. Another course was conducted for the journalists of a private TV channel in Islamabad on Oct 26. Ten journalists each participated in both the events.
Addressing the participants of the course, 4thpillar Chairman Farooq Haider Mirza said the organisation form a club of certified journalists who practice responsible and ethical journalism in Pakistan.
“To achieve this objective trainings will be conducted in all the major cities of Pakistan,” he added. He said this international training will be imparted totally free of cost and the journalists of Pakistan.–PR
