QUETTA    -   Election Commissioner Balo­chistan, Abdul Qayum Khan Shinwari on Wednesday ex­pressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of local gov­ernment elections held in four districts of the province. 

“Role of the provincial gov­ernment, especially the dis­trict administration and law enforcement agencies, for the peaceful conduct of the lo­cal government elections was commendable,” he praised. 

In a statement issued here, election commissioner Balo­chistan while terming the con­duct of peaceful election a great success said that officers and staff of the election commission played pivotal role in this suc­cess. He further said that con­ducting peaceful, clean, trans­parent and neutral elections is not only our constitutional re­sponsibility but also a national duty which was carried out in a befitting manner. 

Shinwari said the election commission with the support of government, district ad­ministration, law enforcement agencies, will continue fulfill­ing its constitutional and legal responsibility with the same zeal in future as well. 

It may be mentioned here that polling for the LG by-elections peacefully held on Tuesday in 57 wards of the Musakhail, Mastung, Duki and Loralai’ dis­tricts of the province. 

Earlier, the Election Commis­sion of Pakistan (ECP) had set the date of 28 August for the by-polls in these districts; how­ever, it was called off due to floods and heavy rains.
