ISLAMABAD - Former Inspector General of Police Afzal Ali Shigri Saturday stated that police should not only enforce law and order but also serve the community. He said that police should take step for the betterment of general public. He reiterated to enforce the police reforms with letter and spirit. He was talking in a programme started by the IGP Syed Kaleem Imam 'An hour with a legend. According to details, Inspector General of Police Syed Kaleem Imam has started a new programme An hour with a legend under the auspices of newly established Media and Public Relations Centre (MPRC) of Islamabad Police. Under this programme retired and serving senior police officers having outstanding professional police officer will be invited to deliver lecture to the officers of Islamabad Police. In this regard first session was organised in ITP Headquarters. Afzal Ali Shigri (Retd) IGP was invited as legendary police officer who started his career in 1968 and after that remained posted at various posts from ASP to IG, posted as IGP NH & MP, IGP Sindh, Additional Director FIA, Additional Secretary Inter-provincial coordination Cabinet Division, Deputy Secretary Establishment Division and Secretary National Police Bureau. The Inspector General of Police, Syed Kaleem Imam, while introducing the chief guest, also described the goals and objectives of An hour with legend programme and exhorted the young police officers to learn from the experience of the seasoned police officers. The former IGP said that commanding officers should take step for the welfare of the community and police should not only enforce law and order but to work for the community as community policing. He admired the services being provided by ITP to the people. He stressed for the enforcement of police reforms. He answered different questions of the young officers. Later IGP Syed Kaleem Imam presented him a souvenir.
