GUJRANWALA – At least 14 people including women and children were killed over old enmity in Pipliwala village in the precincts of Saddar police station on Thursday.
Saifullah Goraya and Javed Goraya were involved in feud over property and family dispute. Three men of both the groups have already lost their lives.
On Thursday, armed men of Javed group shot dead Saifullah and his nephew Usman in an ambush near his house at 9:00 am. While a neighbour, Ashiq Hussain, also injured in the firing.
As the news of killing spread in the village, Saifullah’s brother Amjad along with his four accomplices attacked the houses of the rival Javed group and set three houses on fire. As a result, Tanzila w/o Asif, Farah Bibi and Irshad Bibi along with nine children were burnt alive. The dead children included: Fajar, Hajira, Maria, Abdullah, Wali Muhammad, Khushi Muhammad and two children of Irshad Bibi.
The deaths triggered an atmosphere of fear and panic in the area.
Heavy contingent of police reached the scene and tackled the violent situation. Police also arrested two suspects.
The rescue teams shifted the injured and dead bodies to hospitals.
Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and directed the CPO to arrest the accused.
