Ashab lifts Combaxx Sport Sindh Satellite Squash title

LAHORE  -  Phenomenal Ashab Irfan outclassed unseeded Uzair Shaukat in the final to lift the coveted trophy of men’s singles in the Combaxx Sport Sindh Satellite Squash Championship that concluded on Saturday at Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex. 

In an excellent display of the game, Ashab defeated his opponent in three straight sets as the score was 11-7, 11-2 and 11-6. The final lasted for 22 minutes. Ashab Irfan completed the brace of titles in the event, when he also won the U-19 final. 

In the women’s category, top player Zaynab Khan outclassed Noorul Huda in straight sets to win the title in style. The women’ final score was 11-5, 11-4 and 11-3, showing the superb display of the game by Zaynab.  

Chief guest squash legend Jahangir Khan and CEO Combaxx Sports Umar Saeed gave away the trophies to winners and runners-up. Asif Azim, Sindh Squash Association President Adnan Asad, Secretary Muhammad Rashid, and Combaxx Sports GM Zubair Macha were also present on the occasion. 

Speaking on the occasion, Jahangir Khan said: “Pakistan is rich in squash talent. The need of the hour is to provide modern infrastructure and training facilities to youth to nurture their talent to a level to turn tables on their opponents at world level.” 

He eulogized the role of Combaxx Sports in patronizing sports including squash and called upon other institutions to follow their example to provide patronage to squash so that the country may regain past glories in squash at world level. He also praised the Pakistan Navy RKJK Squash Complex which is state-of-the-art facility for squash players.
