Islamabad police arrest 7 drug peddlers, 14 suspects

ISLAMABAD - Police, in a special drive against drug mafia, have rounded up some six drug pushers from different localities of the capital and seized narcotics from their possession, informed a police spokesman on Saturday.
According to him, the police have launched a massive crackdown in the capital to curb bootlegging and drug peddling activities under the directions of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas.
He said that a team of Noon police station, under the supervision of SP Industrial Zone Saud Khan and SDPO, carried out a raid and held three drug peddlers namely Zafar Jamal, Farooq Shah and Bakhtiar and recovered 2,968g hashish from their possession.
Similarly, Ramna police arrested a suspect, Muhammad Alam, recovering 2,730g hashish. Golra police arrested accused Tahran Shahzad with recovery of 390g hashish.
Likewise, Lohibher police arrested Muhammad Munair and recovered 22 litre alcohol.  Separate cases have been registered against the nabbed persons.
In another attempt, on the directions of IG Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas and under the supervision of SP I-Area Zone Saud Khan, a search operation was conducted in Shams Colony. During the operation, 80 houses, 10 shops and 115 persons were searched and 15 suspects and two motorbikes without documents were shifted to police station. A case was also registered against one drug peddler arrested with 14 bottles of alcohol. 
ANF nabs 4 smugglers, seizes drugs
The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) on Saturday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers including an Afghan national, seizing huge quantity of drugs in two separate raids in Islamabad and Ghazi Interchange on Tarbela Road, informed sources. Two vehicles being used by smugglers to transport the narcotics have also been impounded, they said. Separate cases were lodged against the detained accused with ANF police stations, sources said. According to sources, a team of ANF conducted raid on a house located at E-11/2 and recovered 11.940 kg heroin from a car parked in the garage. 
The ANF held two suspected smugglers Ghulam Rasool (Afghan national) and Amaan Ullah from the spot and moved them to police station for further investigation, they said adding that the suspected smugglers had concealed heroin in a leather jacket. 
A case has been registered against the accused while further investigation was on, the sources mentioned. In yet another action, a team of ANF has enhanced surveillance at Tarbela Ghazi Road following a tip-off that drug mafia may attempt to smuggle huge quantity of narcotics, sources said.
They added ANF spotted a suspicious vehicle and stopped it for checking. During the course of search, ANF found 44kg Charas and 34 kg Opium from secret cavities of the vehicle, sources said adding that the ANF arrested the two suspected smugglers namely Ali and Babar Javed from the spot. A case was registered against the duo while further investigation was underway. ANF spokesman said Director General ANF Ghulam Shabbir Narejo have appreciated the efforts for netting the four smugglers and seizing heavy quantity of narcotics.
